Change in Clerk's Office Operational Hours on Fridays and Revised After-Hours Emergency Filing Service

Thursday, October 23, 2025

Effective Friday, October 24, 2025, the operational hours of the Clerk's Office will change due to the government shutdown and employee furloughs.  Until further notice, each Friday the Clerk's Office Intake counters in Tallahassee and Pensacola will be closed to the public.  Callers may leave a voicemail which will be returned the next business day.

On Fridays, self-represented filers may utilize the Emergency Filing Service (EFS) at any time that day or the drop boxes located in the Tallahassee and Pensacola courthouse lobbies when the lobbies are open to submit and preserve a file date for the following categories of documents:

  • Filings that result in the issuance of a new case number (e.g., bankruptcy petitions, adversary proceeding complaints, and miscellaneous proceeding case initiating documents);

  • Filings that satisfy a deadline that requires filing action; and

  • Filings that continue a deadline that expires on the current day.

Documents submitted via EFS and drop box will be processed the next business day that the Court is open. New case numbers and evidence of filing bankruptcy will not be provided outside of normal business hours (i.e., 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. local time on days when the court is open).

Attorneys and other registered CM/ECF users may continue to file electronically.

Barred filers. Self-represented debtors who previously received an order requiring payment of all past-due filing fees before a subsequent bankruptcy petition may be filed ("barred filers") are permitted to use the EFS and drop boxes to submit new petitions on Fridays.  The new petition will be processed as long as the petitioner pays all outstanding fees by 4:00 p.m. local time on the next business day when the Court is open. Otherwise, the petition will be discarded.

The Clerk's Office appreciates your understanding as we continue to operate during this budgetary lapse by providing excellent assistance to those we serve to the best of our abilities.

Traci E. Abrams, Clerk of Court
